This project combines audio recordings, music, writings and visuals to discuss the role of household appliances and machines in our lives. It focuses on two aspects: first, it observes changes in the domestic soundscape, driven by machines. What do our domestic soundscapes consist of? What is left unheard? The second aspect of this project discusses the role of domestic work, largely unpaid and unaccounted for. The American Dream, as advertised, promised to reduce housewives’ burden via mechanization. How does domestic work look like around the world today, according to statistics? Has the machine liberated the woman yet?
